Basariček, Stjepan (1848 – 1918), a teacher, professor of pedagogy and teaching methodology and educational author at the turn of the 20th century. Initiator, founder and an active member of the most important educational and pedagogical associations and institutions in Croatia.

Pogačić, Milka (1860 – 1936), a Croatian teacher and author. She advocated improved living conditions and education for poor children. Trstenjak, Davorin (1848 – 1921), a Croatian pedagogist and pedagogical author. He edited and wrote several books on pedagogy and ethnography, as well as books for children and young people. He was the first President of the Union of Croatian Teacher Societies.

Vitez, Grigor (1911 – 1966), a Croatian poet and translator. He worked as a teacher, at the Ministry of Education, and at Mladost publishing company as an editor of children’s books. He is presently considered the originator of modern Croatian children’s literature, which has been validated as part of the overall Croatian body of literature.
